Source: Google

The Kemayoran sub-district is located in Central Jakarta and includes eight sub-districts: Gunung Sahari Selatan, Kemayoran, Kebon Kosong, Harapan Mulya, Cempaka Baru, Utan Panjang, Sumur Batu, and Serdang.

Besides being known as the area of the former Kemayoran Airport in 1985, Kemayoran is also close to the legendary Betawi figure Benyamin Suaeb and Betawi hero, Murtado.

The name Kemayoran originates from the Isaac de L'Ostale de Saint Martin residence on Jalan Garuda, near the corner of Kemayoran Gempol.

Isaac was a member of the Dutch trade partnership military expedition or Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC).

In 1682, Ishak succeeded in helping Sultan Haji to overthrow Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Isaac was also awarded several plots of land in Batavia by the VOC. Isaac held the rank of Mayor.

The large and magnificent house of its time attracted people's attention, and they visited Isaac's house.

Residents then referred to the area as "Majoran." Then, the pronunciation changed slowly to "Kemayoran."
