Lompat Tali Karet Game: Practicing Agility and Building Dexterity in Children

Lompat Tali Karet (jumping rubber rope) game is one of the traditional Betawi games played by girls. But sometimes the boys also came to play. This jumping rope game uses a rope made of rubber band connections that is approximately 5 meters long.

Two people hold the two ends, then rotate them so that rope goes up and down. Then the other two children jumped up and down on the rope with a certain count and force. If they fall, then the other pair have the turn to jump.
According to some sources, this jump rope game has existed since the Dutch colonial era. At first this game was only played by Dutch children. Some say that the origin of this jump rope is from the European continent which spread to other continents including the Southeast Asia and Indonesia especially.

In addition, there are also sources that say this game comes from Egypt, China, Australia and so on. Thus, there is no definite clarity about the origin of this one game.

Rules
This game is played by 3 or more people. There are 2 people as rope holders and the others are in charge of jumping over the rubber. The height of the rubber starts from the ankles until it reaches the head even as high as the hand that is raised upward.

Height to the chest, requires participants to jump without hitting the rubber / rope. If the player hits rubber or gets caught in the rubber, the player will fall and take turns with the rubber holder. If all players have successfully passed the jump challenge with the final height, the game will be repeated from the beginning, and so on.
