Indonesia's Honor on the World Stage, Jakarta Cultural Department Appreciates Gitabumi Shine Voices' Victory at the 12Th World Choir Games.

GANGNEUNG, SOUTH KOREA - The Jakarta Provincial Government, through the DKI Jakarta Cultural Department, is also proud and appreciates the Indonesian choir group Gitabumi Shine Voices at the 12th World Choir Games in Gangneung, South Korea. The event-themed, 'Singing Together Brings Nations Together,' took place from Monday, July 3, 2023, to Thursday, July 13, 2023, and aims to unite various nations through the art of vocal music.

Jakarta Cultural Department Head, Iwan Henry Wardhana, said as many as 45 Gitabumi Shine Voice delegates participated in this competition. They won 1st place in the Pop Choir Category and 2nd place in the Jazz Choir Category.

"Gitabumi Shine Voice is not a newcomer to the international choir scene. They have won 'Winner of the Category' at the European Choir Games and 'Winner Grand Prix of Nation' at a competition in Sweden. Their participation as one of the best delegations at the 12th World Choir Games shows their vocal quality and outstanding artistic excellence," Iwan said in Jakarta on Friday (07/14).

Furthermore, Iwan said, this choir competition was attended by various countries such as Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Kosovo, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, and the Republic of Korea.

"Once again, we congratulate Gitabumi Shine Voices for this achievement. Hopefully, it can inspire Indonesia's young generation, bring the spirit of unity through music to a higher level, and become an inspiration for the world," Iwan added.

Gita Shine Voices is a collaboration of two of the best choir groups in Indonesia, Gitabumi Voices (Jakarta) and Shine Harmony Choir (Surabaya). They united and formed Gita Shine Voice and achieved achievements in the international music scene. The high enthusiasm of the people of Gangneung City can also be seen from the quickly sold-out performance tickets to the posters and banners displayed on the city streets.

"The Cultural Agency will continue to look for and foster young people who have talent interests in the field of voice arts to continue to excel for the good name of Indonesia in the global music scene," Iwan explained.
