Beksi Silat, Betawi Traditional Sports

Beksi Silat was created by Lie Tjeng Hok, a crossbreed Chinese farmer who created a distinctive martial art that was a mixture of his family's martial arts and the martial arts he had learned from Betawi Silat teachers. His grandfather, Lie A Djam, was an immigrant from Amoi (now Xiamen), Fukien, China. The Betawi teachers are mentioned as Ki Jidan and Ki Miah (or some call it Ki Maimah). The mixed martial arts is called Bhe Si, which in Hokkien means 'horse'.

Lie Tjeng Hok teaches martial arts to his students, both Chinese and coastal Betawi people around his residence in Kampung Dadap, Kosambi, Tangerang. One of his most talented native students is Ki Muharli (Marhali). Then Ki Muharli had a Betawi-breed student named H. Gozali (Godjalih) bin H. Gatong, who later taught his knowledge to his students in Petukangan, South Jakarta, and Batujaya, Batuceper, and Tangerang. H. Gozali's main students included Kong H. Hasbullah bin Misin, Kong M. Nur, Kong Simin, and Kong Mandor Minggu, who also studied with Ki Muharli. Lie Djie Tong and his successors, among others, continued to teach this school in Dadap Village. From these places, the Beksi silat style then spread to various other places. The following are the names of Beksi's moves,
