The Syahrul Indra Saga

Syahrul Indra saga is an adventure story in the form of prose. Syahrul Indra saga manuscript was copied by Muhammad Bakir in Malay with Arabic-Jawi script. The text is written in a typical European book, each page is lined horizontally and vertically in blue and red, and does not have a paper stamp. The size is 32 × 20 cm. The manuscript consists of 371 pages, each page contains 18 lines. The original page numbering is written in Arabic numerals 2-371. The text is written in black ink. At the end of the manuscript, Muhammad Bakir explains that he copied this saga in a hurry so that the writing is very bad.
 
Syahrul Indra saga begins by telling the story of King Tahir Alam Mengrna Indra in Dahrul Maydan, whose wife is Mandu Ratnasari. It is said that in the Pandan forest, the king of the parrots, Indra Paksi, lost his son, Paksi Purnama. Paksi Purnama was later found by King Tahir Alam and given to his wife. The bird advised Princess Mandu Ratnasari that, in order to get pregnant, Princess Mandu Ratnasari had to eat flowers from King Balia Denta. Following this advice, Mandu Ratnasari was then pregnant and gave birth to a child, named Syahrul Arifin Perdana Indra, who later became a friend of Paksi Purnama.
 
Once, Syahrul Arifin was kidnapped by four ministers, but was rescued by an eagle who then threw him into the sea. Syahrul Arifin landed on Purwa Sakti Island and met Arkas Dewa and Johan Pahlawan. He returned home and changed his name to Syahrul Indra Lela Bangsawan.
 
One day in the land of Wirama Kancana, a competition was held to propose to Princess Kumkuma Jauhari, the son of King Bahr Shah. The princess has a brother named Johan Indra. However, Princess Kumkuma who had been proposed by 39 princes, including Syahrul Indra, was kidnapped by Dewa Lela and taken to his country, Puspa Gandam.
 
Knowing this, Syahrul Indra followed Puspa Gandam on his flying horse, accompanied by Belia Denta and Paksi Purnama who had turned into humans. Syahrul Indra managed to kill Dewa Lela and free Princess Kumkuma.
 
Once, Johan Indra came to Wirama Kancana with his father and met Syahrul Indra. The two then set out to find the lost treasure. On the way they met the Peri Purba Laksana with her daughter, Sukandasari, the fiancée of Lela Wirajana from Pura Istana.
 
Princess Sukandasari who was kidnapped by a dragon, was freed by Syahrul Indra and managed to kill the dragon. Syahrul Indra loved Princess Sukandasari. The Princess was willing to accept Sharul Indra's love as long as he could kill Lela Wirajana, her fiancé. After successfully fulfilling these conditions, Syahrul Indra married Princess Sukandasari.
