Potong Centung is one of the customs carried out in the Betawi wedding procession. Potong Centung is inseparable from a series of traditional processions for the bride, namely keeping the prospective bride, physically preparing her to be strong at the wedding reception.

Potong Centung is done by a bridal make-up. Her job is to clean the body hair of the prospective bride that grow around the forehead, temples, nape and neck. Centung according to the Indonesian Dictionary means the ends of the hair on the (short) tied up hair.

Before the Potong Centung process is carried out, there is a small ceremony which is essentially the handover of responsibility from the bridal nurse to the make-up artist.

The bridal makeup artist makes a centung on the hair on both sides of the cheek by using coins to pin it as a symbol of hope that the bride will always receive blessings and safety.

In this Potong Centung procession, the bridal make-up cut and trimmed the branch hair in such a way as to form artistic curves. Then proceed with the process of coloring the nails of the prospective bride and groom with Chinese henna leaves which will give an orange red color.

After that, the woman will be dressed with light make-up and clothes in the style of None Betawi. In the evening before the wedding day, the bride will receive advice as a provision for household life.
