Hikayat Syekh Abdul Kadir: A Well-Known Islamic Scholar Throughout the Archipelago

The story of Syekh Abdul Kadir Jaelani Jaelani contains the life history of Sheikh Abdul Kadir Jaelani, the leader of the saints. This saga is well known in various languages in the archipelago. The story of Syekh Abdul Kadir Jaelani is also found in Javanese and Sundanese texts.

It is said that the text of the Hikayat Syekh Abdul Kadir Jaelani text was copied from Javanese to Malay by Muhammad Bakir. On the way, they were robbed by a group of thugs, but the thugs were shocked and finally repented of Abdul Kadir's innocence and honesty. He studied in Baghdad for a long time, until finally replacing his teacher who had died. Thus, he became a famous scholar in Baghdad.

The manuscript of the Hikayat Syekh Abdul Kadir Jaelani is written on European paper measuring 20 × 15.5 cm. No paper stamp was found. This manuscript is 191 pages long. The paper is still in good condition. The manuscript of the Hikayat Syekh Abdul Kadir Jaelani was finished being copied on November 2, 1892. The text of this manuscript ended with the letter al-Fatihah and a prayer to Sheikh Abdul Kadir Jaelani.
