The Planetarium and Observatory of the Jakarta Arts Center Management Unit at Taman Ismail Marzuki held a coverage of the Super Blue Moon and Saturn Conjunction Astronomical Phenomenon themed 'Night Picnic with SuperBlueMoon and Saturn' on Wednesday (30/8) night.

More than 200 participants took part in this activity. The Jakarta Planetarium and Observatory team provided 10 telescopes to serve the public to observe the Super Blue Moon and Saturn conjunction phenomenon that night.

Head of DKI Jakarta Cultural Department, Iwan Henry Wardhana, said the Super Blue Moon and Saturn Conjunction is one of the astronomical phenomena and exciting momentum in providing scientific insights for the community, especially for students.

He appreciated and supported the steps taken by the Jakarta Planetarium and Observatory of the Jakarta Arts Center Management Unit of Taman Ismail Marzuki to educate the public while introducing various astronomical activities.

According to him, this activity also allows the public to witness rare phenomena while learning and recreating together.

"Hopefully, the public can gain scientific insights and get to know various astronomical activities to form a scientific mindset in society, especially Jakarta residents," he expressed Thursday (8/31).

Meanwhile, the Head of the Jakarta Arts Center Management Unit at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Arif Rahman, said the public misses the presence of the Jakarta Planetarium and Observatory, which has not been able to open its services fully since three years ago.

He hopes this Night Picnic activity can slightly treat people's longing for the Jakarta Planetarium and Observatory services.

"In addition to inviting the entire community to enjoy our services, as well as inviting us to pray together so that the Jakarta Planetarium and Observatory can soon be fully operational again," Arif said.

For information, the Night Picnic with Super Blue Moon and Saturn was also filled with discussions, observations, and Mini Planetarium performances.

The hundreds of participants who attended came from various walks of life and first registered themselves through online registration on the social media of the Jakarta Planetarium and Observatory.

The Jakarta Planetarium and Observatory team collaborated with a Jakarta Amateur Astronomy Association team to act as resource persons for discussions, observations, and telescope guides.

"10 telescopes are provided to serve the public to observe the conjunction phenomenon and six Mini Planetarium shows," Arif said.
