‘Panjat Pinang’ (Greasy Pole) Traditional Sports

This game is also known as Coko or Ceko game and has developed in Jakarta since the Dutch colonial era and during the Japanese occupation. This game, which is interpreted as "scramble" in the past, was often held by the Dutch to enliven the party. The participants were natives who became laborers on the plantations belonging to the Dutch. The prizes are in the form of food (cheese, sugar, milk, bread) and clothes that are hung from the top of the areca nut that has been smeared with oil. After Indonesia's independence, the Ceko game changed its name to the area climbing competition. The implementation is also carried out to commemorate Indonesia's independence day every August 17. The goal, apart from celebrating Independence Day, is also a means of strengthening social solidarity and entertainment.
