Liven up TIM's 55th Anniversary, Jakarta Department of Culture prepares cultural arts performances
The Jakarta Provincial Cultural Department will organize cultural arts performances to commemorate the 55th anniversary of Taman Ismail Marsuki (TIM) from November 8–12, 2023.
Jakarta Provincial Cultural Department Head, Iwan Wardhana, said that his side is synergizing with Jakarta Arts Institute (IKJ), PT Jakarta Propertindo, Jakarta Arts Council, and various other stakeholders in organizing the cultural arts performance, which lasts for five days.
"TIM's 55th anniversary celebration carries the theme, TIM is a Shared Space in Creation and Work, which is an effort to emphasize the existence of Taman Ismail Marzuki as a space for artists to produce quality works of art and create a more harmonious and conducive cultural arts ecosystem," said Iwan Wardhana, at TIM, Cikini Raya Street, Cikini Village, Menteng District, Central Jakarta, on Monday (11/6).
He explained TIM's anniversary celebration would be filled with various events, including live music and murals, ludruk and lenong cultural art performances, inclusive art exhibitions, TIM collection exhibitions, capital city artist performances, and free Jakarta specialties, Cikini Festival, orchestra, William Wongso's cultural speech, a solo performance by pianist Jefri Setiawan, Mini Planetarium, and UMKM bazaar.
"We will invite the Acting Governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, to celebrate TIM's 55th anniversary. The cultural arts performance lasts for five days and is free of charge," he said.
He revealed that the existence of Taman Ismail Marzuki until now was certainly inseparable from the support of all parties. For this reason, the presence of the community is highly anticipated at TIM's 55th anniversary celebration.
"We hope that Taman Ismail Marzuki can become a center of arts and culture that is sustainable, inclusive, and beneficial for the people of Jakarta and Indonesia. TIM has great potential to continue to inspire, educate, and promote arts and culture," Iwan said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Jakarta Arts Council, Bambang Prihadi, added that his party appreciated the holding of cultural arts performances to welcome TIM's 55th anniversary, which involved many parties.
"All parties are involved in organizing the cultural arts performance welcoming TIM's 55th anniversary, including the art community in Taman Ismail Marzuki. So, this is a celebration of all," he stated.
