The story of the Wayang Arjuna tells the story of Arjuna who was beheaded three times. The story begins when one day Arjuna fell ill. Then Arjuna could be cured because Dewi Jembawati, wife of King Jenggala, vowed to eat a plate with Arjuna.

Arjuna then made love to Dewi Jembawati, so King Jenggala was angry. Prabu Jenggala asked the Kurawa for help to capture Arjuna. Arjuna was captured. One of the Kurawa, Balarama managed to cut off Arjuna's head and take him to Astina.

Arjuna's head was brought by Dewi Banowati, wife of Prabu Darawati, into his room. However, Arjuna was able to live again with a complete body. One night Arjuna also made love to Dewi Banowati in his room. It was also known as Prabu Darawati, a fight between Prabu Darawati and Arjuna was unavoidable. They chase each other, even to Suralaya.

Meanwhile, the other Pandawa learned that Arjuna had long since disappeared from the kingdom. Batara Narada was asked for help by the Pandawa to catch Arjuna and behead him. Arjuna's head was placed in the Angel's Garden, while his body was washed away in the river where the nymphs bathed. When found by the angels, Arjuna's body came back to life coupled with the presence of four other knights who were as capable as Arjuna.

The five knights of Arjuna were making out with the angels every day. This situation made Suralaya sluggish. After finding out why, Batara Guru and Batara Narada fought against Arjuna, but were unable to face him and fled to Amarta.

Arjuna chased after Batara Narada and Batara Guru. But while in Amarta, Arjuna met his family and apologized for his actions. He was asked to make a well behind the Astina palace. When finished, Arjuna's head was beheaded in the palace square of Astina. At that time, it was raining so hard that the Astina square was flooded.

After that incident, there was a long drought in Astina for seven years, which made it difficult for people to get water. Everyone, including the bataras, took water to the flooded square, but both men and women became pregnant from drinking the water.

In another part of the story in Suralaya, four knights incarnate Arjuna were looking for Arjuna. Batara Raksaning Jagat, who knew that the cause of the world and Suralaya's troubles were Arjuna, also sought Arjuna to take responsibility for his actions. He equipped the four knights with arrows.

The four knights and Arjuna were then able to treat all the sufferings of pregnant people in the world. The five of them went to Suralaya but were ordered by Batara Raksaning Jagat to return to the world. In the end, Arjuna reunited with his brothers and forgave each other.
