Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono inaugurated the Jakarta Arts Council (DKJ) members for the 2023-2026 term at Balairung, City Hall, Central Jakarta, Friday (22/9).

The 30 inaugurated members are artists and art activists divided into several committees: film, music, literature, fine arts, dance, and theater.

"I believe you can carry out your duties as well as possible and with full responsibility. May God Almighty always guide and protect us all," said Acting Governor Heru in the Jakarta Provincial Government Press Release.

Head of DKI Jakarta Cultural Department, Iwan Henry Wardhana, said the members who have just been inaugurated are selected people to be able to lift Jakarta, which has a mission as a cultural city. The election was carried out through a deliberation process by forming a deliberation committee, which was carried out and initiated by DKJ beforehand.

The elected members have also undergone a selection and interview process by the Jakarta Academy.

"The Jakarta Academy submitted to the Acting Governor the names of DKJ candidates who were eligible, and the Acting Governor made the inauguration today. So there is no intervention at all in the selection," Iwan explained.

Iwan also explained that the Jakarta Arts Council also carries a vision and mission to advance Taman Ismail Marzuki as an artistic ecosystem at a high level and increase the role of cultural arts from the lower level.

"Increasing talent is the role of all members of the Jakarta Arts Council and we hope to involve many other parties to work together," he explained.

In the future, his party will also hold an event in collaboration with the Jakarta Arts Council on the anniversary of Taman Ismail Marzuki on November 10.

"We verbally conveyed to The Acting Governor to be present in commemorating the anniversary filled with literary activities, film, fine arts, music, and dance, all joined together in the event," he said.
