Celebrating the 46th Anniversary of the Maritime Museum, DKI Disbud Holds Art.The.Fact 2.0 Temporary Exhibition

JAKARTA - To celebrate the 46th Anniversary of the Maritime Museum, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, through the DKI Jakarta Cultural Department (Disbud), again held a temporary exhibition of Art.The.Fact 2.0 with the theme 'The Stories That Connect Us.' Head of the Jakarta Provincial Cultural Department, Iwan Henry Wardhana, inaugurated the event accompanied by Heads of Regional Work Units (UKPD) and other agency leaders at the Temporary Exhibition Room on the 1st floor, Building A of the Maritime Museum, North Jakarta.

Iwan said the exhibition Art.The.Fact 2.0: The Stories That Connect Us continued a series of temporary exhibition activities organized by the Jakarta Maritime Museum Management Unit since 2022 by visualizing museum narratives into art media installations.

"This exhibition is free and open to the public. Hopefully, this exhibition can benefit all and build awareness of the younger generation towards culture, motivate their historical reasoning through old relics, and build their love for the nation's historical wealth," said Iwan in Jakarta Friday (7/7).

Furthermore, Iwan said, this exhibition seeks to display the development and influence of the spread of Austronesian culture on the people of Indonesia and its relationship with other nations or countries around it. Southeast Asia and Australia have several cultural similarities, including archaeological relics, boat technology, language, architecture, fashion, creative arts, flora, and fauna.

"It is important for all of us, especially the younger generation, to be able to better understand their identity and pass on an understanding of how this country was formed into a strong and resilient nation with a variety of cultures inherent in it. Hopefully the Jakarta Maritime Museum Management Unit can continue to provide interesting and useful information and education facilities for the people in Jakarta," Iwan added.

In its implementation, the Maritime Museum collaborates with several creative artists from within and outside the country to provide another color to the exhibition presented. In addition, the series of exhibition activities is also filled with several discussion activities by giving various speakers who are experts in their fields in responding to the exhibition.

Art.The.Fact 2.0 temporary exhibition themed 'The Stories That Connect Us' is curated by University of Indonesia archaeologist Supratikno Rahardjo, Jambi University archaeologist Irsyad Lehitu, and University of Indonesia museologist Hilman Hadoni. In addition, the artistic stylists and creative artists who have given their touch to this exhibition are Digital Kreasi Budaya (Digikara) researcher Burhanuddin Aziz, Taiwanese artists Yipei Lee and Shih-Kai Chang, Makassar and Yogya artist Abdi Karya Am, and National Gallery of Indonesia curator Alam Wishesa. Several parties, such as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, DKI Jakarta Cultural Department, Makassar City Museum, Digikara, and Indonesia Hidden Heritage Creative Hub, received support and appreciation.
