‘Bola Gebok’ Traditional Sports

In the past, this Betawi folk game was mostly done by children while herding (angon) their themes. Called ‘gebok’ it has something to do with the word ‘tabok’ (hit) because players who are caught will be beaten (tabok). This game is popular in the Gandaria area. The gebok game uses a rubber ball (tennis ball) and some used milk cans. This game can be played by boys or girls and the number of players is not specified. This game is generally played by children aged 6 to 12 years. In this game, no special equipment is needed, only 15 used milk cans are arranged in layers and a rubber ball. This game also requires a fairly large yard, usually, children use the home page as a place to play.

This game is a team game, wherein in one team there are at least 2 people. The playing group is divided into two, namely the drafting team and the guard team. Each member of the drafting team will work together in stacking cans in stages while the guard team will cooperate in throwing the ball (the ball will be declared "dead" if it is in the hands of one of the guard team members for too long).

Students are divided into two playing groups, for example, team A and team B. Then make a circle with a diameter of approximately 50 cm to place a pile of used milk cans or according to the number of cans used, and draw a boundary line that is 20-25 meters apart (according to the number of cans used). deal) from a pile of used milk cans. Make a toss between team A and team B, for example, team B wins, then each member of team B takes turns trying to throw a pile of cans with tennis balls from outside the specified boundary line. Each member has the opportunity to make 1 throw. If all members of Team B do not hit the pile, then change to Team A who is playing. If all members of Team A also don't hit the pile, then replace the playing team B, and so on until one of the teams can hit the pile of cans (target).

If a throw hits a pile of cans, for example, a throw from one member of team A can hit a pile of cans, then another member of team A quickly tries to rearrange the pile of scattered cans, while a member of team B tries to pick up a tennis ball to throw another member of the team. Team A is rearranging a pile of used milk cans. Team A's members scatter, trying not to get hit by the ball from team B, if team B's throw doesn't hit a member of team A's body, then Team A will continue to pile up targets until it's finished. If a member of team A finishes stacking targets without being hit by a throw from a member of team B, then team B is declared defeated.
