Anggar – Anggaran Game

The anggar - anggaran or simply anggar is a traditional Betawi game that can be played by at least two people. Anggar is usually played by boys aged 6 to 10 years. This game is an agility sport that emphasizes skill techniques such as cutting, stabbing or parrying the opponent's weapon.

The tools played in this game are swords made of banana leaf midrib. Banana leaf midribs are used as swords because the material is flexible, easy to shape and also harmless.

The essence of the game is that the sword must be aimed at the opponent's body. If someone’s sword hits the opponent's body as much as possible in the allotted time, then he wins the game. Body parts that can be attacked only from the shoulders to the feet.

The values that can be taken from this game are to help our bodies stay healthy because in the game, all members of the body move. The value of discipline is also present when playing anggar. Players must obey the rule that the head is not attacked.
