The Maritime Museum is a museum that holds collections related to maritime affairs and Indonesian service.

Many collections that can be found include ship miniatures and equipment supporting shipping activities, such as navigation tools, anchors, binoculars, and lighthouses.

Not only that, but the Maritime Museum also houses boats from various regions in Indonesia, such as Kora-kora Boats, Alut Pasa Boats, Jukung Hawaiian Boats and Ketinting Boats.

One of many traditional boats that are quite interesting is the Papua outrigger boat, often also called the Karere or Seman.

The Papua outrigger boat is made of a single Seiba tree dredged/dug out inside using the dug-out technique.

This boat is an outrigger without sails, with the outrigger on the starboard side, which is used as a counterweight.

Outrigger boat is a common type of marine vehicle for the oldest Austronesian people in the archipelago.

Papuan outrigger boats can be found in the Demta area, Jayapura, and are used as a means of transportation from village to village, whose cargo can be filled with up to 30 people.
